The reason I apply to this department is I think I can learn about the gender gap I felt when I went to Canada with English and American literature and I was very interested to know that there is a professor who specialized in gender issues.

As I mentioned in my statement of purpose, I have been aware of the gender gap from the discussion I had in Canada about how Japan is lagging behind other countries in terms of women's participation in society, and from the phrase I had read in the past,"The Great Gatsby."

If I get accepted to this school, I would like to study English and American literature, the social conditions and gender issues or the time they were written, and study abroad to broaden my horizons.
